Walt Disney World(WDW) currently has four main theme parks. Each theme park has a unique theme and a different style. It is best to approach each with a unique gameplan. Magic Kingdom: Opened in 1971 and is vary similar to Disneyland in California. The aim audience of this park is the young and the childish at heart.

EPCOT: Opened in 1982, EPCOT is often referred to as a world's fair. This is a much larger park than the Magic Kingdom (approximately twice the size) and geared towards a slightly older audience.

Disney's Hollywood Studios: Opened in 1989, Disney's Hollywood Studios is the smallest theme park in WDW. The studios have elements that appeal to people of all ages. Including two of the most thrill oriented attractions at WDW.

Park, Resort: what’s the difference?

Walt Disney originally started with just one park: Disneyland in Annheim, California. It was only a few years later that a resort was developed around the original park.

A resort can include one or more theme parks, as skillfully as hotels, restaurants, shopping areas (such as Disney Village), business services, etc. In short, a resort is a collection of Disney experiences concentrated in a single location for a diverse audience.

At Disney, theme parks are themed. Each has its control story and each park is divided into themed areas or ‘lands’. So there can be several lands in one park, or several theme parks in one resort.

There are 6 resorts with one or more theme parks:

  • Disneyland Resort in Annaheim – United States (2 parks): Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park
  • Walt Disney World in Orlando – United States (4 parks): Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios

    As we walked around the Walt Disney World Property the last few days, I began to think about just how big each park was.   Maybe it was because I was laying hardwood flooring the day before we went to the park so my legs were feeling it, but these parks are big.    But how big?

    Can you list out all the Disney Theme Parks in the world from the largest park down to the smallest park?    As you think, be sure to separate out each of the parks.

    I’ll give you one hint here and list out the resort area size along with the parks that make it up.

    • Walt Disney World – 25,000 Acres
      • Made up of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom
    • Disneyland Resort Paris – 4,800 Acres
      • Made up of Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios Paris

    Which Disney Park has the Least Walking?

    If you’re going to Disney World, you WILL do lots of walking. That’s just a fact. However, some of Disney’s theme parks require less walking than others.

    Park layouts and walking distances can change frequently due to new attractions, closures, and construction. As of the latest updates, Hollywood Studios generally requires the least walking, but always check for current park maps and news before your visit.

    The size and layout are the main reasons. Let’s take a closer look at how much walking you’ll do at Disney World’s theme parks.

    How Big are Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks?

    As you probably know, Walt Disney World Resort has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom (the oldest and most iconic), Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom (the largest by area).

    To determine which Disney theme park requires the least amount of walking and which requires the most, we should first observe each park’s size and total number of walking paths. This data will give you some perspective on how the resort is laid out.
