jurassic world fallen kingdom parents guide

It’s three years since the Jurassic Park update Jurassic World, and time to get our heroes back to the island that was abandoned after many of the visiting tourists were turned into monster munchies.

Claire (Howard) is now working to protect the dinosaurs at the abandoned Isla Nublar theme park from an impending volcanic eruption, so when benefactor Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell) offers her a safe place to transfer the dinosaurs, she enlists the help of former flame Owen (Pratt), as he’s the only one who may be able to communicate with and rescue highly intelligent raptor Blue.

After a slightly slow fix up that establishes ageing Lockwood – who clatters around an immense mansion with his granddaughter Maisie (Sermon), her carer (Geraldine Chaplin) and his business manager Mills (Rafe Spall) – was actually Jurassic Park owner John Hammond’s ex-business partner, Claire and Owen head off to rescue some dinosaurs from flowing lava, volcanic explosions and eruptions.

Their adventure is like a Greatest Hits of Jurassic Park as the action moves from Isla Nublar back to Lockwood’s home, thanks to some animal-trafficking, gun-toting baddies who never meant to store the dinosaur

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Parents need to know that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is just as forceful and terrifying as its predecessor, 2015's Jurassic World. Although the action no longer takes place inside a tourist-filled dinosaur theme park, there are still many deaths (mostly armed mercenaries and billionaire moguls). And there are lots of intense scenes of sustained terror, suspense, and peril, including a prolonged sequence in which a very scary genetically modified dinosaur tracks and tries to kill a young teen. People are eaten, torn to shreds, trampled, and severely injured. Language is infrequent (occasional exploit of "damn" and "Jesus!" and one "holy sh--" that's slice off before completion). There's only one real kiss (and some flirting). Expect a fair bit of product placement, especially Apple products and luxury cars. On the upside, there are more notable female characters in this installment than the last, and the movie has themes of teamwork and bravery. Families who enjoyed Jurassic World will be able to handle this sequel, but younger viewers sensitive to violence and menacing creatures may not be ready for all of the people-chomping. Is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom kid friendly? Well it depends on your kids and how much they like to see dinosaurs eat people. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is rated PG-13, and I’ll give you the scoop on language, sexual content, aggression, and whether Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is ok for kids to see.

Is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom kid friendly?

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom takes place three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World theme park. Owen and Claire return to Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs from a volcano that’s about to erupt.

As an overview, I would say Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is scarier than Jurassic World. However, honestly, all these dinosaur movies scare the crap out of me. If your brain can process that dinosaurs aren’t real, you’ll be fine.
