Jimmy Lyons Scholarship

Applicant must be a California scholar who demonstrates outstanding musical talent. Selection is based on audition tape and then live audition if selected to continue in the process.

Presidential Scholarship

Applicants must exhibit unmatched musical merit dtermined through a live audition. Applicants also call for to demonstrate financial need.

Michel Camilo Scholarship

Applicant must be either Dominican-born or of Dominican descent, with both exceptional talent and a infatuation for a career in tune.

Berklee Achievement-Based Scholarship

Applicant must have attended and successfully completed two semesters of full-time study at Berklee. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of no less than 2.5 at the time of the application deadline. Selection is based upon the applicant's Achievement Portfolio, cumulative and concentrated GPAs, instrumental proficiency, and achievement in major.

Deadline:

March 1 (for the summer, fall, and/or spring semesters), June 30 (for the decline and/or spring semesters), October 31 (for the spring semester)

Scholarship Opportunities

It is our endeavor at Berklee India Exchange (BIX) to provide access to higher learning in the performing arts and provide opportunities for financial assistance to be granted to talented, deserving artists from India.

Since 2015, BIX has awarded over $2 million in scholarship funds, including five full-tuition Berklee scholarships for Indian students, 16 Thrive (continuing) scholarships for Berklee Indian Ensemble students (of any nationality), 10 scholarships for workshop attendees in India, and a BIX Zakir Hussain Scholarship, to be awarded in 2021.

The 2016 Berklee A. R. Rahman Scholarship

The Berklee A. R. Rahman Scholarship was a special, one-time opportunity offered to entering Indian students for the fall 2016 semester. Three Indian students, one each from Assam, Uttarakhand, and New Delhi, were granted full-tuition scholarships to pursue a full-time degree at the college.

Presidential Scholarship

Each year, the college selects a very limited number of the top entering musicians to receive this scholarship. Students who receive a Presidential Scholarship are automatically nominated and selected, based on their audition and financial need, and are notified individually by the Office of Admissions prior to the deposit deadline each year. 

The scholarship, which covers the cost of tuition, on-campus housing, the meal plan, laptop*, software, major bundles, and the comprehensive fee**, is renewed each year, for a total of eight semesters to cover a single major*** and follows the standard scholarship policy. The Presidential Scholarship does not cover the cost of off-campus housing.

*Only Berklee College of Music Presidential Scholars receive the laptop portion of their scholarship in their first semester. Boston Conservatory at Berklee Presidential Scholars do not receive the laptop, but will receive an iPad.

**Health insurance, travel, books, and miscellaneous fees are not included.

***Students who elect to declare a dual major should prepare to pay for semesters beyond the length of their scholarship.

Full-Tuition Grants for the Master of Music in Global Jazz Program

Each year, all 20 students accepted into Berklee College of Music’s highly selective Master of Music in Global Jazz program on the Boston campus are awarded full-tuition grants cherished at $47,500. There is no separate application to fill out in order to receive a grant. These grants are made possible thanks to a generous gift from Jeff Shames, chair of Berklee’s board of trustees.
